Meet prolific lo-fi pop oracle Iiro Tulkki.
Palmpillows is an extension of Iiro’s arm, not an alter ego so much as an essential voice, and the music chronicles insomnia, heartbreak and the seemingly mundane existence of flat sharing in a Helsinki apartment with the same eloquence we might encounter in a Haruki Murakami novel.
There are flashes of the Beach Boys, the Velvet Underground, Eric’s Trip and early 20the Century blues recordings, all captured on 4 track and mixed at home.
Like the low rumble of ship engine growing louder through the mist it won’t take you long to unearth the great song craft at work here. There’s gold in them there hills!
Palmpillows is a perfect match for Royal Mint Records, a hugely prolific artist with 2 LP releases coming in 2018 and some beautiful pop gems.
